WHY CHOOSE TIMBER?

Timber Frame construction offers a number of benefits and advantages over other construction / house building methods. Continue reading the pages below to find out why timber frame is the number one choice for the future of construction.
Cut Wood

ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS

Using timber during construction can dramatically reduce the carbon footprint of the build. Out of the numerous main building materials, timber is the most environmentally friendly, as it has the lowest energy consumption and the lowest carbon dioxide emissions. Timber is not toxic and does not release any chemical vapour into the building.

Timber has the lowest embodied energy of any mainstream building material, from the processing and production stage, all the way through to timber transportation. This is mainly because timber requires only minimal processing compared to other materials, such as: aluminium, steel and concrete.

Wood also has the added benefit of being able to store carbon throughout its lifecycle. The carbon that is stored in the wood can actually help to offset the emissions that are used during the manufacturing process, particularly if it's from a sustainably managed forest.

SPEED, QUALITY & COST EFFECTIVENESS

The use of timber during the construction process has a number of benefits including: the durability of timber and easy maintenance requirements, the ease of the construction process, a faster build time than other building materials, natural material for ecology and sustainability, a larger variety of design options and lastly the cost effectiveness of timber during all stages of the build.

Timber is one of the fastest construction methods, as it has a much simpler design in comparison to other materials such as, concrete. The manufacturing process of each component of the project can be built within a workshop, enabling a higher degree of offsite prefabrication, this reduces the number of deliveries to site by up to 5 times, this has a number of benefits, including: having a lesser impact on air quality, site noise, movement and savings surrounding fuel and carbon.
